Recognized as one of National Capital Region's Top Employers (2025):
By Richard Yerema and Kristina Leung, Mediacorp Canada Inc. staff editors (Mar 3, 2025)
Here are some of the reasons why University of Ottawa was selected as one of National Capital Region's Top Employers (2025):
- University of Ottawa surveyed employees to assess psychological factors in the workplace that impact mental health (through the implementation of the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety) and created new resources to address areas of concern -- the university also provides generous coverage for mental health care as part of its benefits plan, to a maximum of $3,000 per year
- University of Ottawa supports a Healthy and Active Campus Committee that organizes monthly activities focused on seven pillars of wellness (activities include a pedometer challenge, wellness bingo, and a stair run) -- employees can also take advantage of subsidized access to the university's fitness facilities, which include a hockey rink, pool, basketball court and sauna
- University of Ottawa helps employees prepare for the future with retirement planning assistance and contributions to a defined benefit pension plan
