Job descriptionSummary:Better Living Health and Community Services has an opening for Activities Leader- Seniors. This position is responsible for assists in planning and implementing programs and assist community workers and clients during activities.This position reports toManager, Active Living ProgramsTo be eligible to participate in Canada Summer Jobs, Candidates Must:Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigrant and Refugee Protection Act* and;Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.The successful candidate for this position must possess the following qualifications:Currently enrolled or completed degree or diploma in related field of Health & Wellness, Gerontology or Social Services is an asset.Proficient in the use of computers, including the Microsoft Office suite.Current First Aid & C.P.R. certification is asset.Successful completion of Vulnerable Sector Screening within one month of employment.The successful candidate for this position must be able to:Demonstrate high level of interpersonal skills required to succeed in a collaborative, team-oriented working environment.Demonstrate ability to work through customer issues to achieve a desired outcome.Adapt and change accordingly to plans and circumstances proactively.Strong written and verbal communication skills.key position responsibilitiesposition SpecificAssist data entry on a daily basis, statistical tracking, and monitoring for Senior Active Living Centers at Overland and Deauville and Exercise and Falls PreventionTrack and balance finances daily as required Front Desk SupportProvide seniors with information about the Better Living Health and Community ServicesAbility to manage multiple administrative responsibilities through strong organizational, prioritization and time management skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a supportive manner with Clients, Caregivers, and other healthcare professionals in order to effectively respond to the needs of Clients.Assist Program Coordinators within the Active Living Programs and Exercise and Falls Prevention including planning, implementation, and evaluationProgram facilitationkey organizational responsibilitiesprovide services in keeping with the organization’s Mission, Vision and Beliefs and Resident Declaration of Values.Adhere to the principles and expectations outlined in the Code of Conduct.Adhere to the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA 2010) as outlined in the organization privacy policies and procedures.Perform the functions of job description in compliance with the Health and Safety practices of the organization and in accordance with the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act.Participate in the continuous quality improvement activities of the organization in order to advance a culture of quality and support ongoing compliance with CARF Accreditation standards.Better Living is an equal opportunity employer in accordance with theOntario Human Rights Code,Employment Standards ActandAccessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
